Tiki Carpenter

Tiki Carpenter lives on the New Mexico side of the Colorado-New Mexico border. She has a small storefront – Goldcrafters – in downtown Durango. Tiki has been making jewelry for years, as she developed a passion for precious metals visiting Colorado’s mines as a child. She once was nicknamed “Fire Squaw” for her accomplishments in the silversmithing. Tiki also has spent time in California, where she fine tuned her goldsmithing skills and was nominated for and published in Who's Who in California for outstanding accomplishments in the arts.  Tiki returned to Colorado in 1983 and opened Goldcrafters, where she makes custom pieces and also repairs heirloom jewelry. “Repairing is like bringing back an old friend,” she said. But she also enjoys custom pieces. “With a custom piece you’re making a very special item with a very special purpose.
